Decisive Media has always considered business as a venue to aid communities and disadvantaged youth. In 1998, we launched the Emerging Diversity Education Fund or EDEF, a non-profit organization that has raised more than $500,000 in scholarships and trained over 300 young people for lucrative careers.
Decisive also assisted multicultural consumers in the automotive industry by releasing national automotive magazines to educate them, as well as introduce automotive career opportunities. Plus, Decisive established the annual Urban Wheel Awards with the North American International Auto Show, known as America’s largest revenue event, to benefit its non-profit endeavors.
However, juggling both profit and non-profit ventures became a challenge. Most auto companies that attended and sponsored the multicultural awards found it difficult to distinguish between the profit and non-profit activities of raising funds to support the mission of helping communities.
That is, until Decisive Media learned about the new state laws authorizing businesses to become classified as Beneficial Corporations. Decisive Media has registered as Benefit Media in the state of Maryland to merge both its business and non-profit missions. This move allows us to promote services and create jobs, while upholding our social mission.
A mission-based for-profit company, Benefit Media, together with a host of noted universities and colleges in Michigan, Maryland, and Washington D.C.have plans to train and recruit women, veterans, and young people of traditionally under represented ethnic groups for the operation of our events, websites, and consumer media publications under the new structure. This task aims to aid consumers in making the right purchase decisions about services and products, while simultaneously promoting diversity in corporate America through events, services and media.
Thus operating, Decisive Media remains true to its goal of helping consumers and creating jobs, while still giving investors a substantial return.
Decisive Media is a comprehensive multimedia platform, the aim of which is to provide culturally relevant news and information to minority consumers to help them make purchasing decisions on products and services. DECISIVE also helps companies reach this growing market with multiple marketing and public relations tools.
Published quarterly, Decisive’s magazine titles include Decisive, Decisive Latino, Decisive Autos, and Decisive Auto Latino.
Decisive’s tagline is the “Best Source for Cultural and Consumer News.”
The magazine accomplishes this with how-to articles, purchasing tips, and product comparisons. Most of the content is generated from independent experts in various fields of endeavor who provide advice, opinions, blogs, interviews, and columns to help consumers make smart decisions. The Decisive titles also make it easier for consumers to shop for vehicles at local dealerships, buy auto parts and accessories, view video content and ads, and connect with experts in the various categories.
The Website serves as a consumer news hub and provides daily content to major multicultural social networking, news sites, and search engines––as well as our network of Web partners and minority newspapers. The print versions are distributed as inserts in newspapers around the country, the publications are also distributed online, digitally, and at major cultural events. Currently, subscriptions to the digital magazines are free.
The ultimate goal of Decisive Media is to enable readers to be more “decisive” during these uncertain economic times.
