Fisker Karma: Fisker burst onto the scene just two years ago with plans to offer the first luxury plug-in hybrid, and along with Tesla, has gone a long way toward helping to make the electric car sexy. The Karma luxury sedan is due to enter production in the third quarter of 2010, and Fisker claims to have over 1500 customer deposits on hand for the car.

Ford Escape / Mercury Mariner / Mazda Tribute Hybrid: This family of fuel-saving compact SUVs continues in 2010 with a minor facelift. Most-efficient SUV status is conferred by the Escape/Mariner/Tribute's small size, while confident handling and a small measure of off-road ability contribute to all-around versatility.

2011 Ford Electric Focus: Not long after the Transit Connect's debut, Ford is expected to roll out its first mainstream electric vehicle in the form of a gas-free Focus. Specifications aren't available yet, but the Focus' all-new platform is all grown up, and features a laundry list of high-technology options including standard stability control, Active Park Assist, pushbutton start, a backup camera and the all-new MyFord driver-information system.

Ford Fusion / Mercury Milan / 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid: The hybrid versions of Ford's mid-size siblings received a great deal of critical acclaim thanks to a 155-horsepower Atkinson-cycle 2.5 liter four-cylinder and 275-volt permanent-magnet electric motor assist that can cruise at up to 47 miles per hour on full-electric power.. Ford's "EcoGuide" instrument panel display helps encourage fuel-saving driving habits, while entertaining road manners encourage driving enjoyment. For 2011, a Lincoln MKZ hybrid joins the family.

2011 Ford Transit Connect Electric: Ford will market a fully electric version of the Transit Connect commercial truck as a 2011 model. The first all-electric vehicle from Ford, the Transit Connect is electrified by aftermarket upfitter Azure Dynamics, who yanks out the gasoline engine and installs a lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor. Speeds of up to 75mph and up to 80 miles per charge are expected. Regenerative brakes also contribute to battery charging.
