
Leon C. Richardson was born in Hamtramck, Michigan, and was raised in West Haven, Connecticut. Mr. Richardson served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years achieving the enlisted rank of Sergeant and was selected as a candidate for the Warrant Officers Program. He attended the University Of Maryland to pursue a Business Management Degree and continued his pursuit of a Business Management Degree at the Detroit College of Business. Mr. Richardson has also completed several executive management programs at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and Ross School of Business at University of Michigan.
On September 13, 1989, Chemico Systems, Inc. opened its doors for business with Leon C. Richardson as President. Chemico supplies chemical products and chemical management services to several industries throughout North America.
In August, 2006, Chemico Systems and Mays Chemical Company created the joint venture, ChemicoMays, LLC. Combined, the organization has over 250 employees, operates eight facilities in North America and Puerto Rico. Both organizations have received numerous awards and recognition for outstanding performance and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Richardson currently serves as chairman of the National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers, is a board member of both the Michigan Minority Business Development Council, and the General Motors Supplier Diversity Counsel as a mentored GM supplier. Mr. Richardson also serves as an executive board member of two nationally and internationally recognized environmental compliance organizations, Chemical Strategies Partnership (CSP) and Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP).
