The New York Auto Show is right around the corner, and everybody's gearing up to impress the money people. Manhattan is where Wall Street is, after all, so while NYC isn't exactly the most car-friendly environment in the country, everyone's bringing out their latest and greatest to preen for the financial folks. The show opens April 2 and runs through the 11th, with the press preview taking place March 31 and April 1. In addition to already-introduced vehicles like the Audi e-tron, MINI Beachcomber, GMC Granite and Cadillac XTS, a range of all-new vehicles will see the light of day for the first time as well. Here's a pre-preview of some of the new stuff that's expected:
2011 Lexus CT 200h: Lexus' second dedicated hybrid will join the HS 250h in the lineup later this year.
2012 Chevrolet Spark: The Spark mini-compact has been showing up at auto shows for a couple of years now, but no significant details have been released. Will Chevrolet break its silence in New York?
2011 Acura TSX wagon: Acura plans to take on the Audi A4 Avant and newly minted Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon with a cargo-carrying version of the TSX sport sedan. Based on the European Accord, the TSX wagon will arrive this fall.
2011 Honda Pilot: Honda has an updated Pilot SUV and a new Odyssey minivan in the works. Expect to see one or both of them in New York.
Volkswagen Touareg hybrid: Though VW has been fiercely committed to diesel power as an alternative fuel, it's been playing with gas-electric hybrids as well. Its Compact Coupe show car from Detroit was a hybrid with a diesel power plant, and the upcoming Touraeg hybrid will bow in New York.
2011 BMW 5-Series: The latest full-size sports-luxury sedan from BMW will be introduced in New York as well. The 2011 BMW 5-Series will join the stage with an updated 3-Series Coupe and the executive hot-rod Alpina B7 sedan in New York.
2011 Subaru WRX: The high-performance WRX gets new high-performance wide-body styling for 2011, and we'll be able to see the sheet metal for the first time in New York. It's a better way to advertise the 265 horsepower under the hood to the world.
Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Hybrid: Hyundai plans to release high-performance and high-efficiency versions of the sleek new Sonata; expect them to bow at opposite sides of the New York stage.
Nissan Juke (shown at top): The strangely-styled Nissan Juke will make its North American debut in New York. This sub-compact crossover (it's smaller than the Rogue) was shown in Geneva this March, and is planned for production later this year.
2011 Kia Optima: Kia has released teaser images of the new Optima sedan, which will be unveiled in NYC.
